Tropical storm and hurricane season is upon us, and the NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) predicts that there is only a 40% chance that this season will be near-normal. As we saw last year, these storms can bring tremendous damage. Hurricane Florence resulted in record rainfall in September 2018, while Hurricane Michael made landfall in Florida in October 2018 and left a wake of destruction in its path. Both storms resulted in almost $50 billion in damage.
The damage can be done not only to those who live on the coast but also to those who are inland. In fact, 9 out of 10 hurricane fatalities are the result of coastal storm surge and inland flooding. It’s important for all residents to know how to prepare, and for insurance professionals to be ready for action as well.
Grayco can provide an evaluation of wind damages and high-wind events, and we have extensive experience being first responders to these events in the Gulf Coast and South Florida. We’re here to help the dedicated insurance professionals and property owners in affected areas prepare for a busy hurricane and tropical storm season.
