Steven R. Gray, CAT, Assoc. AIA — President, Manager

Steven GraySteven is a nationally known respected expert in roofing consultation who provides forensic investigations, systems expertise, expert witness and testimony, and roofing consultations. A diverse client base values Steven’s comprehensive knowledge of roof inspections, surveys, analysis, testing, troubleshooting and roof designs. Steven has provided design and specification development for new and existing commercial, industrial, institutional and high-end residential construction projects including historical restoration, slate, clay/concrete tile and copper roofing projects.

Steven is a graduate of Washington University of St. Louis’s School of Architecture. With more than 40 years’ experience in the roofing industry, Steven offers knowledge of all aspects of roofing — working on the front lines of some of our country’s most catastrophic weather events. He also provides first-response forensic analysis and redesign of large complex commercial and industrial roof systems and acts as lead/foreman for large roofing contractors to install commercial, industrial, residential and historical roof systems. Steven offers unmatched expertise that delivers the finest and most comprehensive roof consulting services available.

Christopher R. Demien — Director of Operations, Member

Christopher DemienChristopher has been with Grayco since 2008 and is involved in the day-to-day business operations, inspections, report production and specification development for all Grayco projects. Christopher is involved daily with clients and project communications. There is rarely a project were Christopher has not had a hand in managing or production.

Christopher grew up working in his family’s lumber yard and has been around construction his entire life. Christopher attended Central Missouri State University where he graduated with a degree in secondary education and a minor in construction management.

Michael Trower, RRO — Director, Member

Michael TrowerMichael joined Grayco in 2010 and as director is involved in the inspection, documentation, production and management of reports detailing the onsite inspections that he is part of across the country. In addition to inspections and reports, Michael has increased Grayco’s services through continuing education and professional development with his advanced expertise in Xactimate estimating, Infrared Thermal Surveys, AutoCAD details and other services related to roof consulting and insurance-based weather peril investigations.

Michael is a graduate of Central Missouri State University and worked for many years in the civil engineering field before becoming part of the Grayco team. Michael regularly completes IIBEC and related continuing education classes and is working towards his RRC certification.

Scott Cochran, PE, CFEI — Director of Engineering

Scott CochranScott’s B.S. in architectural engineering from the University of Colorado–Boulder and more than 20 years of experience (18 in forensic engineering) brings a breadth and depth of forensic engineering experience to the Grayco team. Scott provides forensic engineering services for all elements of industrial, commercial, residential and institutional properties, from roofing and building envelope components to framing and foundation systems.  Scott is based in Denver, CO, and is licensed in thirteen states: CO, FL, ID, KS, MO, MT, NE, NM, ND, OK, SD, TX, and WY. Scott provides technical and litigation support to insurance and legal professionals; performs failure analysis investigations, destructive and non-destructive testing, materials characterization, condition assessments, and standards and code review on residential and commercial structures; and designs structural repairs for constructions damaged by wind, hail, snow, fire, earth movement, vehicular impact and other catastrophes.

David L. Cook, RRO, CIT — Regional Manager, Senior Building Consultant

David CookDavid is an accomplished building envelope professional and subject matter expert (SME), with 20+ years’ experience consulting on commercial, industrial, institutional, municipal, historic, multifamily, residential and retail construction throughout the United States and abroad. David joined Grayco in February 2020 as a senior building consultant and regional manager based out of Dallas, Texas.  David’s expertise in roof design and re-roofing consulting has reinforced Grayco’s legacy services in the roof consulting practice. In addition, David’s knowledge in building envelope design, wall cladding/fenestration testing and QA/QC monitoring provides Grayco the expertise to cover all sides of the building enclosure from the top down.

Prior to joining Grayco, David was an office practice leader and senior building consultant for TRC Companies. He is an active member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and International Institute of Building Enclosure Consultants (IIBEC). David holds multiple registrations and certifications with industry organizations including Registered Roof Observer (RRO), Certified Level II Infrared Thermographer (CIT), Registered (UAV) Drone Operator and Air Barrier Auditor.

Dave Gollaher, RRO — Consultant

Dave GollaherDave joined Grayco in 2011 as a consultant and is involved in the documentation, analysis and production of reports detailing the numerous onsite inspections that he is a part of daily from locations across the country. Before joining the Grayco team, Dave spent 27 years in the roofing industry specializing in commercial roofing.

Dave’s roofing expertise has encompassed many angles of the industry, from foreman for large commercial roofing contractors installing a wide range of roofing systems including single ply, modified bitumen and BUR roof systems to project manager overseeing the entire bidding and installation process for both industrial and residential projects. Dave attends and completes RCI and related continuing education classes and is working towards his RRC certification.

Drew Bade — Consultant

Drew BadeDrew joined Grayco in 2019 as a consultant and is involved in the documentation, analysis and production of reports detailing onsite inspections at locations all across the country. Drew provides unique knowledge in contractor style bids to provide real-world budgets and estimating for roofing projects.

Before joining the Grayco team, Drew spent 15+ years as a commercial roofing contractor. After working as a roof technician and going through the union roofers apprenticeship program during his first 5 years in the industry, Drew spent the following 10 years as a project manager and estimator. Drew’s family has been in the roof contracting business for over 50 years, and his knowledge in commercial roofing spans three generations. Drew’s roofing expertise encompasses many angles of the industry, from installation of a wide range of roofing to estimating, sales, contracting, procurement and oversight of large-scale commercial and industrial projects.

Drew attends and completes RCI and related continuing education classes and is working towards his RRO certification.

Robert BoessenRobert is a nationally known respected expert in roofing consultation. Robert holds the Registered Roof Consultant (RRC) designation from IIBEC and the Construction Documents Technologist (CDT) designation from the Construction Specifications Institute. Robert has a pivotal role in mentorship and technical review at Grayco. Robert serves as a senior consultant and member of the Grayco Technical Advisory Board.

Joseph Mileti, RRC, RRO, CDT — Grayco Technical Advisory Board

Joe has been in the commercial roofing industry since 1982. Joe spent most of his career with membrane and insulation manufacturers, managing technical service departments and resolving warranty claims. While at Johns Manville, he was a primary presenter for the industry-acclaimed BURSI program which is the acronym of Better Understanding of Roof Systems Institute. Joe holds the Registered Roof Consultant and Registered Roof Observer professional designation from IIBEC, the Construction Documents Technologist designation from the Construction Specifications Institute, and the State of Illinois Department of Professional Regulation’s Roofing Contractor Qualifying Party designation. Joe is a graduate of Miami University of Ohio.
